Tonight at 8:00 P.M., the lights on Broadway will be dimmed for one minute in tribute to Bea Arthur.
For some reason, that made me think of this Billy Joel song1 and—even more inexplicably—it almost made me weepy.2
I should probably leave my house once in a while.
You know those lights were bright on Broadway
But that was so many years ago…
They say a handful still survive
To tell the world about
The way the lights went out
And keep the memory alive
