I am the same as Erin…a 4/6…but in Forever21 I’m at least a 9, which is only annoying because to try on a pair of pants, I have to grab 4 of them in varying sizes to figure out which size will actually fit…Regardless, the problem has since become that a) the quality is so poor that you put an item in a bag and it has fallen apart by the time you get home and b) I’m now officially too old for Forever21 or Hollister or any of those places that have annoyingly cute people working there that look at you all “judgey-judgey” and telepathically tell you that you are in NO WAY cool enough to shop there. Except now they can passively-aggressively smack me in the face by saying “can I help you, MA’AM?” Uggg…the loud music, the bubble skirts, the skinny pants…nope.
The last time I went into Forever 21, two 83-pound girls with oversized sunglasses and undersized limbic systems looked at me, looked at each other and one of them said “Yeah, like, this isn’t Forever THIRTY ONE”. Then they both spat out identical staccato laughs that sounded like geese being tortured with a nail gun.
At the time, I was mincing around the sales floor in a pair of skinny jeans in a pastel shade the color of flamingo spooge, trying to find a size that didn’t cut off the circulation to my lower legs and—after hearing this—it was all I could do not to return to the fitting room and take a shit in the corner, camoflauging it beneath an impractical 42-foot long scarf. If I’d been able to bend my knees in those pants, I probably would’ve done it.
