Here’s a Beatle recording you may not have heard. It’s Paul playing Mother Nature’s Son, but without the brass section and in crystal-clear, up-close vocals. This particular outtake came from the Capital Records vault. I know a man who worked at Capital and upon his (forced) retirement absconded with some fantastic un-released recordings from Sinatra, John and Paul, Conway Twitty, Sonny and Cher, and of course, Elvis. (This might have been released with the new box set. I don’t own it (yet) so I am not sure.)
Oh yeah, there’s a bit at the beginning where Paul is complaining to the engineers about his recording situation. Seemed like an agreeable guy though.
This is my brother’s favorite Beatles song, and this recording is gorgeous. grace-notes : gordonshumway : hellointernet
