Brinsley Schwarz - “Surrender To The Rhythm” (1973)
With a spiky-haired, 24-year-old Nick Lowe, chewing gum and playing a sweet-looking Tele.
Excellent bridge. Great band.
It goes without saying that I’ve fed plenty of Brinsley Schwarz into my ears but I’m also delighted to announce that I own albums by all three pub rock bands that the announcer mentions: Ducks Deluxe, Bees Make Honey and Kilburn & the High Roads [Ian Dury’s pre-Blockheads band]. I’ll be cradling them as I sob myself to sleep later tonight.
Also, I may or may not have a 24 x 36 photograph of a circa-late 70s Nick Lowe wearing a pair of rust colored corduroys and cradling that very guitar.
I should stop talking now.
